Opposition allows Question Hour to function in AP Assembly

Hyderabad, Dec 15 (UNI) The Opposition parties, which stalled the proceedings in Andhra Pradesh Assembly since last Monday, today allowed the Question Hour to proceed after Speaker K R Suresh Reddy assured them that their issues would be heard in the ongoing session.

As the session began today, the Speaker disallowed the adjournment motion tabled by the Opposition parties on the alleged illegal acquisition of lands by Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's family members.

The Speaker also rejected the adjournment motions tabled by the Communist Parties on the problems of the students of the oppressed class, the lathicharge on the students and the plight of handloom workers in the state.

Legislative Affairs Minister K Rosaiah and the Speaker had assured the opposition members that all the issues raised by them would be addressed by the government.

Mr Rosaiaha assured the House that the government would make a statement on the issues raised by the opposition parties during the present session itself.

The Speaker promised the TRS members that the ongoing discussion on the alleged illegal acquisition of government lands by Chief Minister's family members would continue for the second day today.
