Opposition AIADMK stages walk out
Puducherry, Dec 15: The Opposition AIADMK today staged a walk, out in the territorial Assembly protesting against the Speaker's refusal for an adjournment motion sought by AIADMK Legislature Party Leader A Anbazhagan.
Immediately, when Chief Minister N Rangasamy rose to make a suo motu statement in the House, the AIADMK members A Anbazhagan and Om Sakthi Segar demanded the adjournment of all business to discuss the issue pertaining to Karaikal, as three members' from the region boycotted the session to protest against the alleged negligence of the Karaikal region by the administration.
As Speaker R Radhakrishnan paid no heed to the members request, they staged the walk-out.
Later, Mr Anbazhagan told newspersons that in the history of Puducherry Assembly, it was for the first time that members from this region were boycotting the session.
He said, the administration through the Lt Governor's address and budget speech had announced several schemes but nothing had been implemented so far.
So the party had tabled an adjournment motion to discuss the important issues besides the JIPMER issue, he added.
