NTPC, IPGCL

New Delhi, Dec 15 (UNI) Power major NTPC Ltd today entered into a joint venture agreement with Indraprastha Power Generation Company Ltd (IPGCL) and Haryana Power Generation Corporation (HPGCL) for setting up a 1,500 MW coal-based power plant at Jhajjar, Haryana.

The agreement was signed by NTPC Director (Commercial) R S Sharma, IPGCL Director (Technical) Vinay Kumar and HPGCL Director (Projects) R K Sharma in the presence of NTPC Cheif Managing Director T Sankaralingam.

The companies has signed an Memorandum of Understanding in August this year for undertaking the project.

The Delhi Cabinet last week passed the proposal to become a stakeholder in the green field plant which is expected to become operational in 2010.

The Delhi Government will acquire 2,000 acres of land next month for Rs 100 crore. Delhi and Haryana will get 750 MW of power each from the plant.
