No quota in defence services: Army Chief
Hyderabad, Dec 15: Chief of Army Staff General J J Singh today ruled out any quota in the defence services.
Speaking to newspersons here on the sidelines of a combined graduation parade of the Air Force Academy, Gen Singh asserted that merit was the only criterion for recruitment to the defence forces. ''There is no reservation for any community. We are against quotas in the defence forces,'' he added reiterative his position made at the time of the Sachar Committee Report controversy.
Conditions in the defence services would be improved to attract more women, he announced.
To a query, Gen Singh said there was perfect coordination between the three forces.
There was no shortage of officers in defence and all defence academies were full with new cadets every year, he pointed out.
