MNC IT companies vie for Bengal e-gov projects

Kolkata, Dec 15 (UNI) Several Multinationals have shown interest in West Bengal government's e-governance projects.

Speaking to UNI, State Special Secretary for Inform ation Technology Siddharth said here today,''We have reaceived a number of proposals informally but not much have been brought to the table as formal proposals.

While Motorola India is vying for the opportunity to provide its patented technology for cheap broadband connectivity as it has done in Rajasthan, SAP India is readying Enterprise Resource Planning and Hewlett Packard is eager to offer solution for e-procurement.

Motorola India Chairman Firdose Vindrevala had said recently that his company was eager to provide technology in rural areas.

On the other hand HP has bid for providing healthcare, education and e-procurement solutions to the Bengal government.

SAP India representatives also met the state IT Secretary to provide ERP platform to the state government for various applications. The company had recently provided such solutions to Bangalore Development Authority.

''All such projects are at informal discussion levels and we cannot talk further on them untill we get concrete proposals,'' Mr Siddharth added.
