Maharashtra announces assistance for cotton cultivators

Nagpur, Dec. 15 (UNI) The Maharashtra Government today announced financial assistance of Rs 1,500 per hectare for cotton cultivators in the state.

Making a suo motu statement in the state Legislative Assembly, Minister for Marketing Harshavardhan Patil said the assistance would be given for upto two hectares per farmers, that is a maximum of Rs 3,000.

The minimum assistance payable would be Rs 500 per farmer, he said.

Mr Patil said state government would incur an additional expenditure of Rs 500 crore on this.
