Lankan shopping festival begins

Chennai, Dec 15 (UNI) For the first time in India, a gala Sri Lankan Shopping Festival is being held at the Sri Lankan Trade Centre (SLTC) in the city from today.

Showcasing the best of Sri Lankan brands and products, the festival was inaugurated by renowned dancer Srinidhi Chidambaram in the presence of P M Amza, Deputy High Commissioner, Sri Lanka.

On offer will be a diverse variety of products including jewellery, fine porcelain tableware, Sri Lankan tea and snacks, herbs and spices and the like.

A number of wellknown Sri Lankan brands will find place in the event including Stone N String, Okapi, Sifani, Dankotuwa, Hemachandras, Lionco, True Organix, Melsna Siddhalepa.

Speaking on the occasion, SLTC Director Ishwar said the festival would provide an opportunity to all the city customers to familiarise with what Sri Lanka has to offer them.

The festival will be on till January 15.
