Judicial custody of seven Malegaon accused extended
Mumbai, Dec 15 (UNI) The Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court today extended the judicial custody of seven accused, arrested in connection with the Malegaon blast case till December 26.
The prosecution produced the accused before the MCOCA judge M R Bhatkar and sought extension of their custody.
However, the accused have complained to the court that they had been subjected to torture at the hands of the investigation officials in custody and put along with the habitual offenders, which is against the rule.
The court asked the defence counsel to put their complaints in an application and submit it before the court. Defence counsel then asked for the court's permission for meeting his clients in Jail.
The Court passed the order, permitting him to meet his clients, alloting one hour per accused.
Out of the eight accused arrested, only Mohd Zahid Abdul Majid was in police custody.
Three blasts on September 8 this year in and around a mosque at Malegaon in Nasik district, had killed 25 people and injured 240 others.
