International workshop on MSt radar concludes
Tirupati, Dec 15 (UNI) The six-member Internation Sterring Committee of the 11th International Workshop on Technical and Scientific Aspects of MST Radar which concluded here today recommended setting up an International school on Atmospheric Radars.
The committee comprising Prof W K Hocking, Prof T Tsuda, Prof Roettger, Prof D Narayana Rao, Prof Iain Reid and Prof J L Chau, have recommended that such a school on Atmospheric radars be set up at Tirupati next year jointly by National Atmoshperic Research Laboratory (NARL) and Sri Venkateswara University (SVU).
The committee also proposed to introduce atmospheric science as a major subject in some more universities and recommended setting up of training centres on ST and MST radars and wind Profiler radar meteorology.
The Committee also strongly recommended to create an International centre on Radar Atmospheric Science.
To study the large scale system, the Committee proposed to encourage establishment of ST and MST radar networks in different regions of the world with research and operational applications.
As many as about 1000 papers were presented by various scientists in the field of MST radars during the five-day meet.
The committee also announced that the 12th International Workshop on MST radars will be held at New Ontario in Canada and the 13th in Germany.
