Infrastructure is major bottleneck to devlp
Jaipur, Dec 15: Founder and Chief Mentor of Infosys Technologies N R Narayanmurthy said reform and liberlisation unfolded the coming of age of Indian enterpreneurs but infrastructure is the major hurdle on the path of development.
Mr Murthy was talking after the formal inauguration of the Banglore-Jaipur (via Mumbai) flight of the Air Deccan here today.
Mr Murthy whose flight from Banglore to Jaipur got delayed by more than an hour due to congestion in the Banglore airport said ''the government has done a wonderful job by leaving the sectors open to private players but what we are lacking is infrastructure. We are bogged down by infrastructure bottlenecks''.
He said the launching of low cost air careers in the country had made air travel close to the common man and put a premium on the time of the ordinary people. He added the efforts of the Air Deccan to bring air connectivity to the hinterland of the country will usher in a new era in transportation in the country.
Mr Murthy also outlined his definiton of development. He said, ''development cannot be achieved by supressing the rich but by elevating the poor''. He said his defintion of development is bridging the gap exist between the rich and the poor, educated and uneducated, city and villages.
Air Deccan Managing director Captain GR Gopinath said the company plans to launch operations on the Jodhpur, jaislamer and Udaipur sectors soon. A direct flight to the garden city Bangalore and Pink City is also on the cards.
