HC directs pensionary benefits to cop's widow

Jammu, Dec 15 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir High Court has directed the state government to release the amount of death cum retirement gratuity for the widow of a head constable, along with arrears of pension within a period of two months.

A writ petition was filed by Sayeda Begum, the widow of head constable Ghulam Nabi, who was kidnapped and killed by the militants whose pensionary benefits were withheld.

Justice Y P Nargotra observed that from the facts disclosed in the pleadings, it is manifest that recovery from the family pension and death cum retirement gratuity has been ordered against the petitioner.
