Haryana to strength transmission in 11th Plan

Yamunanagar, Dec 15 (UNI) Haryana government would spend a sum of Rs 11,948 crore during the 11th Five Year Plan for strengthening of power tranmission and distribution system in the state.

This was revealed by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda while reviewing the construction activities of Deen Bandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Project in a meeting with senior officers of Haryana Power Generation Corporation (HPGC), Central Electricity Authority and Reliance Energy Limited.

He disclosed that he had requested the Union Government to allow setting up of another gas based power generating plant in Faridabad.

The Chief Minister said the thermal power project costing Rs 2,400 crore would be completed by February 2008 and the first unit of the project would be completed by November next year.

On the occasion he inaugurated the boiler drum lifting of 300 MW Unit-II of the project.

While lauding the role of the officers and officials engaged in the project for completing 63.5 per cent work during the prescribed period, the Chief Minister complimented them and urged them to keep it up in future also so that the project could be completed before the time. He asked them to work with the same zeal and dedication so that other could derive inspiration from this project. He said with the completion of this project, 144 lakh units of additional power would be available daily in the state.

The Chief Minister said no power shortage would remain in the state after three years as government had envisaged a number of projects of generation 5,665 MW of additonal power during next three years.

He assured that the vacant posts of HPGC would be filled soon and for this the government had also accorded its approval.
