Jodhpur, Dec 15 (UNI) Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot today demanded an independent CBI probe into the land scam of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya trust in which state Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje is also embroiled.

Mr Gehlot, an AICC general secretary said returning the land does not lesson the crime committed in any way. Prime land in Jaipur's posh colony was given to Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Trust at throwaway price, flouting all rules. The trust was not even registered at the time of being handed over the land, he added.

The trust members decided to return the land to Jaipur Development Authority (JDA), citing terms and conditions which were not agreeable to them, after a hue and cry over the matter .

Speaking to newspersons here, Mr Gehlot said the decision to make Rajasthan police investigate the matter involving Chief Minister and Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria is making a mockery of the system.

He said the police has lodged its final report in the case but whether the police have interrogated the accused is not known.

He said the Chief Minister and Home Minister should put in their resignations and order an impartial CBI enquiry into the matter.
