Four killed in two road mishaps

Bangalore, Dec 15 (UNI) Four people, including two women and a teenaged girl, were killed on the spot and 25 others injured in two accidents in Karnataka in the last 24 hours.

Police said two women were killed and 25 others injured when a tractor-trailer in which they were travelling overturned near Devarahalli village, about 50 km from Davanagere, last night. The mishap occurred when the victims were returning to Devarahalli after offering pooja in a nearby village.

The deceased have been identified as Lalithamma (35) and Vijaya (13). The injured have been admitted to Channagiri hospital.

In the other mishap, a motorcycle-borne couple was fatally knocked down by a lorry on National Highway-13 bypass road on the outskirts of Bijapur today.

Police said the couple met with a tragic end while they were proceeding to Hamal colony to distribute marriage invitations.
