Fire breaks out at Mubarak Mandi Palace complex in Jammu

Jammu, Dec 15 (UNI) Several important records of Maharaja's regime were gutted in a fire that broke out inside the Mubarak Mandi palace complex at Panjtirthi here this afternoon, official sources said.

Fourteen fire tenders were pressed into service after the fire office received the information about the incident at 1408 hrs, fire brigade sources told UNI.

''There was a huge fire inside the palace complex,'' sources said, adding several record books in 'Tosha Khana', where official records and items of the royal regime were kept, were destroyed in the incident.

The blaze could be put out after two hours.

According to police, short circut could be the reason behind fire.

However, police have initiated an investigation.
