Fast Track Court sentences on ex-ACP Tyagi to death
New Delhi, Dec 15 (UNI) A fast track court today sentenced to death and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 against former ACP R P Tyagi in a 19-year-old custodial death case.
The court also handed down one year rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 25,000 against ex-ACP K P Singh and three years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 25,000 against Sub-Inspector Tej Singh .
Additional Session Judge Rajender Kumar handed out the sentences.
According to the prosecution, Mahender Kumar and Ram Kumar who were planning to plunder nearby circular road, were interrogated by Rishi Pal, a constable of Delhi police. A dispute arose in which the constable was beaten up by them.
Later both the accused were arrested by the police. Police physically tortured both of them in the lockup. They expired in the hospital.
An FIR was registered against 13 persons, out of which nine were acquitted by the court.
