Election office on special drive for residual electors in Goa
Panaji, Dec 15 (UNI) As the Election Commission has made photo identity cards for all electors mandatory, Goa election office has decided to launch a special drive for residual electors in the state from December 18 in three phases.
Talking this to reporters here today, state Chief Electoral Officer Raajiv Yaduvanshi said that the office had issued PI cards to 63.19 per cent of voters so far and the rest would be covered by February next.
He said the first phase beginning from December 18 to Janaury 6 would cover Mandrem, Pernem, Dhargal( Reserved), Bicholim, Mayem, Pali, Mormugao, Panaji, Taleigao, St- Cruz, St Andre, Cumbarjua, Porem, Valpoi, Cortalim and Vasco costituencies.
The second phase will commence from January 10 to 30, covering Bardez, Ponda, Sanguem, Quepem,and Canacona.
While the third phase will be in Salcete taluk from February 1 to 20.
The voters, whose names were found in the electoral rolls only, will be issued Photo identity cards.
The electors, who lost their cards, would be issued duplicate cards on payement of Rs 25, he added.
