DAE organises meeting of senior scientists on Indo-US Nuclear deal

Mumbai, Dec 15 (UNI) Against the backdrop of the proposed nuclear deal between India and USA, the Department of Atomic Energy today organised a meeting of retired scientists to seek their views on the development and current status of discussions on Indo US Civil Nuclear cooperation.

A release issued here by Department of Atomic Energy said amongst those present were former Chairpersons of the Atomic Energy Commission Dr H N Sethna, Dr M R Srinivasan, Dr P K Iyengar, former Director, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre Dr A N Prasad, former Chairman, Atomic Energy Regulatory Board Dr A Gopalakrishnan and former CMD, NPCIL Dr Y S R Prasad.

AEC chairman Dr Anil Kakodkar participated in the discussions along with senior officials of the Department.

The meeting was part of the consultation process, which the Department is having with various experts both within and outside the DAE. Useful inputs provided by the senior scientists would be duly factored in further steps, the release added.
