Court remanded two criminals to police custody for five days
Gangtok, Dec 15 (UNI) The Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Gangtok today remanded two criminals to five days police custody.
Police said Milan Subba and Upendra Mangar were arrested by a police team, headed by East District Superintendent of Police M S Tuli last evening, on the charges of theft and snatching.
DIG Range A Sachdeva today said the duo snatched a bag containing Rs 1.70 lakh from one T T Sebastian, an accountant of the Rajiv Electronics, a leading business house, near Tadong while he was on his way to deposit the money in a private bank on December 12.
Mr Sachdeva said police took a serious note of the incident as such type of incident had never occurred in the state earlier and constituted a team under the leadership of East District Superintendent of Police to nab the culprits.
The team, after a long chase, arrested the duo from a jungle near Rangpo and seized Rs 1.48 lakh from them.
Police said Milan Suba who was earlier working as a driver in the Rajiv Electronicshad masterminded the crime.
Mr Sachdeva said Police presented them before the court today and had appealed to the court for remand.
