Condemned prisoner Sarabjit's sister joins Congress

Patti, Tarn Taran, Dec 15 (UNI) Dalbir Kaur, sister of condemned prisoner Sarabjit Singh who is facing death penalty in Pakistan, today joined the ruling Congress.

She made this announcement in the presence of Chief Minister Amrinder Singh here.

In doing so, Mrs Dalbir Kaur parted company with the BJP, the party she had joined last year when the 'pardon Sarabjit' campaign was launched.

Alongwith Mrs Dalbir Kaur, Harjinder Singh, Surinderjit Singh, Jagjit Singh and Sukhbir Singh also quit the BJP to join the Congress.

On the occasion, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) suffered a major jolt when the entire panchayat of village Kairon consisting of Sarbjit Singh, Sarpanch and Gurmeet Singh, Amrik Singh, Ajaib Singh, Kuldip Singh, Surinder Singh, Baldev Singh and Pritam Singh, joined the Congress.
