Central policies are for appeasement of minorities: BJP

Coimbatore, Dec 15 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president L Ganesan today alleged that the policies of the Centre were aimed at appeasing the minorities.

Talking to newspersons here, Mr Ganesan said granting concessions on the basis of religion was unacceptable in a secular country.

Referring to the OBC Quota Bill passed in the Lok Sabha yesterday, he said the party was not against concessions granted to OBCs, but against exempting minority-run institutions from the purview of the Bill.

He said, while the party is opposed to the desecration of the Periyar statue at Srirangam, it also did not favour the installation of the statue in front of the Rajagopuram of Sri Ranganatha Swamy Temple.
