AP CM to inaugurate Crafts Mela tomorrow

Hyderabad, Dec 15 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy would inaugurate the 13th All India Crafts Mela at Shilparamam tomorrow.

Talking to newspersons here today, State Tourism Minister J Geetha Reddy said the Mela was scheduled from December 16 to December 31 and organised in association with the Development Commissioners of Handicrafts and Handlooms Ministry of Textiles, New Delhi.

Dr Reddy said the Central Government declared the Mela as a national event of the Ministry of Textiles from 2001. Around 800 artisans of various handicrafts and weavers of Handlooms from various States, would participate in this mela, which avoids the middlemen.

Cultural programmes of various folk and classical art forms would be presented to preserve the cultural heritage of the nation, she added.
