Wanted sharp-shooter killed in encounter
Varanasi, Dec 14 (UNI) A sharp-shooter of Munna Bajrangi-Babu Yadav gang, carrying a reward of Rs 10,000 on his head, was gunned down by the Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh police and Varanasi district police in the Shivpur area here this evening.
Senior Police Superintendent Sujit Pandey said here that Dipak Agrahari -- a sharp-shooter of Munna Bajrangi-Babu Yadav gang -- was shot dead by a police team in the Bada Lalpur area under Shivpur police station.
A pistol of Czech make and a motor cycle were recovered from the spot, but an accomplice of Agrahari managed to escape. An STF constable was wounded in the gunfire, Mr Pandey added.
The slain criminal was wanted in connection with at least 10 cases of murders, including the recent killings of Congress leader Ram Lal Tripathi and social activist Arun Bansal.
