TWO Income Tax officials arrested on graft charges
New Delhi, Dec 14 (UNI) CBI has arrested two Income Tax officials, including an Additional Commissioner, for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe for settling a case.
The Income Tax Additional Commissioner and Inspector, both posted in Maharastra's Thane district, were caught red handed at their office yesterday while accepting Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 25,000 respectively from one of the partners of a private firm for settling its income tax case.
During searches, about Rs 24 lakh were recovered from the house of the Additional Commissioner besides documents including purchase of flat at Delhi for about Rs 29 lakh and two cars.
About Rs three lakh was recovered from the house of the Inspector besides documents relating to investments in properties and a car.
In another case, a DGS&D Assistant Director (Supply), Kolkata was caught red-handed by CBI sleuths while he was allegedly demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 10,000 from a private person for official showing favour.
