Strike leaves wide impact in Jharkhand
Ranchi, Dec 14 (UNI) The impact of the nationwide strike called by Leftist trade unions including CITU and AITUC, was almost total in Jharkhand.
Government industrial units located in and around the state capital and the Central Coal Fields headquarters remained closed, as also the various business establishments in steel city Jamshedpur and coal town Dhanbad.
The prodution of Bauxite and iron came to halt following the strike.
Though the educational institutions remained open in state capital, Union government bodies as banks, income tax offices and Life Insurance Corporation offices were closed in the state.
The bandh was supported by CPI, CPI(ML), Forward Bloc(FB) and Marxist Coordination Committee (MCC)in the state.
They are supporting the the implementation of their 16-point charter of demands, including holding panchayat election and proper implementation of National Rural Guarantee Scheme in the state, formation of Gram-Sabhas, strengthening the public distribution system and implementation of employment scheme for the poor living in urban areas.
The RJD also extended its support to the nationwide agitation.
