Satta racket busted, 8 held

Bhopal, Dec 14 (UNI) Police claims busting a cricket betting racket run from the house of an IPS officer in the State Capital and arrested 8 persons, including the kingpin.

About Rs 5 lakh in cash, one car, three motorcycles, three laptop computers, two television sets, about two dozen mobile phone sets and 10 new SIMs were recovered yesterday from the two-storey building in Danish Kunj area.

Superintendent of Police A K Singh said the gang, led by Ratanlal Jain, was operating from the rented house for about six months and betting was carried out for yesterday's cricket match at Multan between Pakistan and the West Indies.

Kolar Police Station Town Inspector Ramjilal Sharma was suspended for laxity, he said, adding the gang had done betting for over Rs 50 lakh. Sophisticated software was being used by the gang.
