Rs 150 crore budget for observing I war of Independence

New Delhi, Dec 14 (UNI) The Government has proposed a budget of Rs 150 crore for observing commemorative activities of 150th anniversary of first war of Independence, 1987.

Making a written reply on the National Committee in connection with the commemoration of 150th year of first war of Independence, Culture Minister Ambika Soni said the Government had constituted a National Committee under Chairmanship of Prime minister Manmohan Singh to commemorate five events including 150th anniversary.

The other events are 60th anniversary of Indian Independence, Centenary Celebration of Adoption of Vande Mataram as national song, 75th anniversary of martyrdom of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and his birth centenary celebrations.

A National Implementation Committee had been constituted under the Chairmanship of Union Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh to chalk out the programmes and activities to be undertaken.

The proposed budget for the commemorative activities was Rs 150 crore.

Various activities as per decsion of the National Implementation Committee will be carried out she said.
