RRB employees join nationwide strike

Patna, Dec 14 (UNI) Nearly 65,000 officers and employees of 102 Regional Rural Banks(RRB) operating in 485 districts of the country participated in the nationwide strike today.

General secretary of All India Gramin Bank Employees' and Officers' Association D N Trivedi in a statement said the call for the strike was given in protest against outsourcing of Bank jobs, ban on recruitment, disparity in payment of pension, allowances and other benefits.

In the event of failure of the government to concede the demands, officers and employees of rural Banks would again go on strike on January 5,2007, he threatened.
