PU, KU win first inter-varsity league matches

Kurukshetra, Dec 14 (UNI) The hosts Kurukshetra University and Punjab University, Chandigarh won the first league matches in the North Zone Inter University Volleyball (Men) Championship here today.

The Kurukshetra University thrashed Punjabi University, Patiala in almost one-sided match.

However, the second match between MDU Rohtak and Punjab University, Chandigarh saw many gestures by the spikers trying to pull the game in their favour. This led to 3-2 victory in favour of Chandigarh. Rohtak team lurched into gloom when its player Sanjay sustained injury in the third set of the match.

The final match will be played on December 16 at the KU sports grounds.
