PM to visit Punjab on Dec 20
Chandigarh, Dec 14 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will inaugurate the Goindwal thermal power project in Tarn Taran district of Punjab on December 20.
Dr Singh, who will reach Amritsar on the night of December 19, would inaugurate the 600 MW thermal plant in Goindwal the next day, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh said today.
The project had been hanging fire since 1988 when late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi had announced it.
Dr Singh will also hand over the historic Fort Gobindgarh in Amritsar to the civil administration. The 18th century fort had been in the possession of the army so far.
