Philips unveils full surround flat TVs with ambilight technolgy

New Delhi, Dec 14 (UNI) Philips Electronics India Ltd, today unveiled a proprietary and revolutionary technlogy called the Ambilight Full Surround televsions with a price tag of Rs 1,14,990 for Philips 32PF9531 and Rs 2,49,990 for Philips 42PF9831 respectively.

The ambilight technology, according to the company, makes viewing experience intense and immersive by throwing a soft glow on the wall behind the screen to enhance perceived brightness, contrast and colour accuracy.

''Studies show that by providing a well-balanced amount of light behiond the TV set, the range in motion of the iris muscle is reduced and this leads to more relaxed viewing and eliminates the need for additional lighting while watching TV,'' said Dr R B Jain, Director, RBM Eye Institute and President, All India Opthalmoligical Society here.

Philips 32PF9531 with its Pixel Plus 2 helps in improving the resolution of still and moving pictures and the digital Natural Motion estimates motion in the picture and corrects juddering movements. Its active control optimises picture and Virtual Dolby Surround enhances surround sound effects.

Similarly, Philips 42PF9831 with Pixel Plus 3 HD is equipped with the Ambilight Full Surround and clear LCD technology. It is also equipped with a USB and Memory card slot.

Philips Electronics India, a subsdiary of the Netherlands-based Royal Philips Electronics, has operations in the domains of healthcare, lifestyle and technology. The products launched today will be sourced from the company's facility in Belgium.

The company employs over 4,500 employees at its three factories, innovation campus in Bangalore and several sales offices around the country.

It reported a turnover of Rs 3,083.4 crore in 2005.
