Mixed response to 24-hour nationwide strike in Asom

Guwahati, Dec 14 (UNI) The 24-hour nationwide strike, called by the Left trade unions in protest against the ''anti-people'' policies of the UPA government, evoked mixed response in Asom today.

Public transport system remained paralysed in the state, affecting normal life.

Attendance in offices, Banks and educational institutions was very thin following the strike.

Shops and markets remained open as usual.

However, there was no report of any untoward incident from anywhere in the state.
