MCOCA court opens sealed statements of 7/11 blasts accused

Mumbai, Dec 14 (UNI) The Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court today opened the sealed cover containing the eleven accused's confessional statements they gave to the agency investigating their role in the serial blasts on July 11, killing 187 persons and injuring 817 others.

MCOCA Judge Mrudulla Bhatkar, after opening the confessional statements given by the eleven alleged accused out of the total thirteen arrested in this case, handed over copies to the defence counsels.

The prosecution submitted articles packed in cartels, polythene bags and boxes, as they were confisticated from suspects, before the court.

While accepting the articles, the court observed that these will would be opened in a day in the presence of prosecution and defence, to check its inventory.

Meanwhile, the court had extended the judicial custody of all the thirteen accused in this connection till December 26.

The Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) of the Mumbai police had filed a chargesheet of 10,667 pages on November 30, exactly 142 days after the incident.

All the thirteen persons - Kamal Ahamed Ansari, Dr Tanvir Ahmed Ansari, Mohd Faisal Shaikh, Ehtesham Siddiqui, Mohammad Majid Shafi, Shaikh alam Shaikh, Mohd Sajid Ansari, Abdul Wahid Shaikh, Muzzammil Shaikh, Soheil Mehmood Shaikh, Zamir Ahmad Shaikh, Naveed Hussain Khan and Asif Khan Junaid - were provided with the copies of the chargesheet.

The ATS had even submitted 26 volumes of original documents in a truck. Those were sealed by the court on November 30 itself.
