Mahapatra assumes charge as Ahmedabad Police Commissioner

Ahmedabad, Dec 14 (UNI) Mr J Mahapatra today took charge as Police Commissioner of Ahmedabad from the outgoing Commissioner K R Kaushik.

Mr Mahapatra was earlier posted as Additional Director General CID (intelligence) at Gandhinagar.

Born on February 1, 1948, Mahapatra hails from Orissa. An M A (Economics), he passed the Indian Police Service (IPS) exam in Gujarat cadre in 1974. He was honoured with Presidential awards in 1991 and 1998.

Earlier, he has worked as Police Commissioner of Vadodara.
