Kids from Asom, Guj rescued

Tiruchirapalli, Dec 14: Police and Revenue officials last night rescued four children, including a seven-month-old baby, belonging to Asom and Ahmedabad from a few houses at Gandhinagar in Tiruverambur on the city outskirts.

Police sources said following a tip-off that 'kidnapped' children of Northern states were being pushed into thievery and domestic labour at Gandhinagar by a gang, District Collector Ashish Vachchani ordered raids to rescue them.

A special team led by Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Das cordoned off the entire area and conducted the raids.

Some persons have been held for interrogation and further investigations are on.
