Kalam visit: Spl team assesses security arrangements
Coimbatore, Dec 14 (UNI) A special security team, led by Assistant Superintendent of Police Prabhakaran from Chennai, visited the city today to assess the security arrangements for the two-day visit of President APJ Abdul Kalam here next week.
Mr Kalam is scheduled to attend five functions on December 18 and 19.
The special security team, along with Local Deputy Commissioner of Police Shanmukhavel, visited all the four venues of Mr Kalam's scheduled visit in the city and another at Pollachi.
To ensure foolproof security, 2000 police personnel would be deployed.
The President will fly down to the city from Bangalore after attending a function at Erode on December 18. He would proceed to Coimbatore Institute of Technology (CIT) to attend the silver jubilee function. On December 19, he would visit Avinashilingam University and interact with students there.
After attending the Golden Jubliee celebrations of Nachimuthu Polytechnic College at Pollachi, the President would leave for Kerala.
