It will be make-or-break for Ganguly in SAfrica, feels Aravinda

New Delhi, Dec 14 (UNI) Sourav Ganguly may have clawed his way back to the Test side but it's going to be a make-or-break series for the southpaw on the bouncy pitches of South Africa, feel former Sri Lanka captain Aravinda de Silva and ex-India opener Krishnamachari Srikkanth.

''Sourav scored a battling 83 in the warm-up match but we should not hype up the knock. It's going to be a double-edged sword for Sourav there and it would of course be a very tough situation for him.

''He is not the greatest player of quick bowlers on bouncy pitches but he would be banking on his determination. He has a point to prove and he would surely give his best,'' said Srikkanth.

Former Lankan skipper de Silva, in the capital to announce Neo Sport's cricket calendar till 2010, echoed the same views but felt Ganguly's guts might save him in the end.

''I totally agree with Srikkanth. You need guts and determination to succeed in such conditions.

''What happens is you tend to throw it away when the ball seams around. This is not only Ganguly's problem, but some of the Lankan cricketers do the same,'' he explained.
