Indo-Norwegian Jt. Com. meeting tomorrow

New Delhi, Dec 14 (UNI) India and Norway will hold discussions here tomorrow on srengthening cooperation in various fields including political, economic and commercial.

External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee will meet his Norwegian counterpart Jonas Gahr Store at the Indo-Norwegian Joint Commission to identify and review areas for closer cooperation between the two countries in political, economic, commercial, energy, environmental, scientific, technological, educational and cultural fields, an External Affars Ministry spokesman said here today.

The two countries will also discuss the situation in Sri Lanka sources said Norway is the peace broker between the Sri Lakan government and the LTTE.

This will be the second session of the Indo-Norwegian Joint Commission.

The decision to establish the Joint Commission was taken during the visit of Norwegian Prime Minister to India in April, 2001. The agreement establishing the Commission was signed in July 2004 and the first session was held in Oslo in June 2005.

''Relations between India and Norway are warm and friendly.

Trade and economic cooperation is growing. There are mutual complementarities on both sides which offer concrete opportunities for further mutual benefit,'' the spokesman said.

The Crown Prince and Princess of Norway paid an official visit to India in October-November this year.
