HC demands availability of central paramilitary forces in LU

Lucknow, Dec 14 (UNI) The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court today took up a Public Interest litigation (PIL) which demanded availability of central paramilitary forces to remove all criminal background students from the Lucknow University hostels.

The petition also urged the LU to start regular classes from January 2, 2007 and hold the Student Union polls under the Lyndoh Committee recommendations.

The Bench comprising Justices Jagdish Bhalla and Dharamveer Sharma heard the PIL and asked the Chief Standing Council to give details on the forced deployment of police force in the LU campus at present by tomorrow.

The PIL was filed by advocate Jayant Singh Tomar.
