Govt assures to rectify the BPL list
Patna, Dec 14 (UNI) Bihar government today assured the state legislative council to rectify the errors which crept into the list of people living below poverty line (BPL).
Replying to a special debate on 'BPL list' in the upper house, rural development minister Bidyanath Mahto said that strict instruction had been issued to concerned officers to rectify irregularities in the list so that no poor could be deprived of the welfare schemes.
'' Altohether 36.06 percent of the rural population in the state have been identified as poor classified as living BPL'' he added.
Mr Mahto assured that wefare schemes for upliftment of the poor would be strictly implemented to improve their living standard.
Strict action would be taken against those showing laxity in execution of poverty alleviation schemes, he warned.
Earlier Basudeo Singh (CPM), Dr Mahachandra Prasad Singh (Congress), Prem Kumar Mani-JD (U) and Nagendra Prasad Singh (RJD) were among others who participated in the special debate.
