Coordination Committee decides to appoint Chairmen by month-end

Bangalore, Dec 14 (UNI) The Coordination Committee meeting of the coalition partners in Karnataka -- Janata Dal (Secular) and Bharatiya Janata Party - today decided to complete the long-standing process of appointing chairmen to various boards and corporations by the month-end.

Briefing newspersons after the meeting here, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy said that while the BJP would get 50 boards and corporations, JD(S) members would head 46 boards and corporations.

The issue was discussed in today's meeting, but there was no pressure on the Government to announce the appointments. The meeting resolved to appoint party workers and Legislators to these posts.

To a question, he said it was also decided to go in for Cabinet expansion to fill the remaining four vacancies -- two each from both the parties.

Mr Kumaraswamy said the meeting took up the Mangalore riots and its handling by the district administration and hinted that there would be some changes in the administrative set up in Dakshina Kannada district.

He said he had convened a meeting of all CEOs of Zilla Panchayats and Deputy Commissioners to discuss various issues, including drought and administrative problems.

The meeting was attended by BJP General Secretary H V Ananth Kumar, Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, Ministers Jagdish Shettar and K S Eshwarappa from the BJP side and Ministers M P Prakash, Cheluvarayaswamy, H D Revanna and Iqbal Ansari from the JD(S).
