Chidamabaram has pre-Budget meeting with MPs

New Delhi, Dec 14 (UNI) Finance Minister P Chidambaram had a pre-Budget discussion with the Congress MPs of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha here today to elicit their views on the annual Budget for year 2007-08.

The General Body Meeting of the Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) was held in the Central Hall of Parliament.

Mr Chidmabaram, who did not make any speech on the occasion, just took down notes as the MPs expressed their opinions about their expectations from the Budget.

The meeting, which was inconclusive, was a part of the pre-Budget excercise undertaken by the Finance Minister every year prior to the presentation of the Budget. He would have another round of the meeting with the MPs on December 18, according to sources.

The Finance Minister is also scheduled to meet political parties and trade unions as part of this excercise.
