Centre not providing grains to Bihar for distribution

Patna, Dec 14 (UNI) The Bihar government today charged the Centre with not providing food grains for distribution among the poor under various welfare schemes of the state.

Minister of state for food and civil supply Suchitra Sinha told reporters here that despite repeated requests by the state government, the Centre was not making available food grains to the state while neighbouring Jharkhand was getting its qouta under the scheme. The Jharkahnd state runs by the UPA government.

Ms Sinha said that Union minister of state for food and public distribution Akhilesh Singh had informed her that most of the godowns of Food Corporation of India (FCI) were empty.

She had already wrote letter to the Centre in this connection, she added. " I will meet union agriculture minister Sharad Pawar to sort out the issue" she informed.
