Centre not providing foodgrains for distribution among poor
Patna, Dec 14 (UNI) The Bihar government today accused the Centre of not providing foodgrains for distribution among the poor of the state under various welfare schemes.
Minister of State for Food and Civil Supply Suchitra Sinha told reporters here that despite repeated requests by the state government, the Centre was not making available foodgrains to the state, while Jharkhand was getting its qouta under the scheme.
Ms Sinha said Union Minister of State for Food and Public Distribution Akhilesh Singh had informed her that most of the godowns of Food Corporation of India(FCI) had no grains at all.
The Bihar government had also written letter to the Centre in this connection, she added.
''I will meet Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar to sort out the issue,'' she informed.
