BJP demands Delhi Assy polls along with MCD elections

New Delhi, Dec 14 (UNI) Charging the Sheila Dikshit-led Delhi Government with completely failing to discharge its constitutional responsibilities, the Delhi BJP today demanded its dismissal and holding of elections to the Delhi Legislative Assembly along with the MCD polls, scheduled early next year.

Addressing reporters here on the completion of eight years in power of the Sheila Dikshit Government, BJP Delhi Pradesh President Harsh Vardhan said,''during the last eight years of Ms Sheila Dikshit as Chief Minister, corruption has broken all the records.'' ''The Chief Minister is not accepting any recommendations of the committees constituted by the government itself. Necessary information is not being made available to the Assembly and the Speaker as well as Delhi Legislative Assembly are kept in dark,'' he added.

By failing to submit the Action Taken Report in the Legislative Assembly regarding the recommendations of Dr Vats Committee on power bungling, the chief minister had violated the provisions of the Constitution,he said.

Dr Harshvardhan said the chief minister did not order inquiry into the bungling of 12,500 crores in the power privatisation adding that she did not fulfil her promise to get full Statehood for Delhi.

Stating that the Sonia Vihar Water Treatment Plant was constructed without making arrangements for sufficient raw water and additional Rs 500 crore were spent due to delay in its commissioning he said, ''The plant is not fully working to its capacity.'' Ms Dikshit had promised to regularise unauthorised colonies for complete development of villages, extension of Lal Dora area, rehabilitation of JJ dwellers, regularisation of industrial units in residential areas, constituting a separate Housing Development Board for Delhi. However, these promises have not been fulfilled so far.

Inspite of many announcements by the chief minister and resolutions of Legislative Assembly, sealing is taking place, rendering lakhs of people unemployed, he said. Ms Dikshit had announced rehabilitation of the traders who were victims of sealing and demolition. However, no one has been rehabilitated.

Every department of Delhi government was in the grip of corruption, he said.

''The High Court and the Supreme Court have many times reprimanded Sheila Government in cases of providing basic amenities to the people of Delhi, development of Delhi by running government in a democratic way, cleaning of Yamuna etc. The latest case is regarding Delhi-UP bus transport dispute which continues due to rigid attitude and an avoidable ego clash,''he said.
