Tiruvalluvar Award for Tamil Scholar K P Aravaanan

Chennai, Dec 14: The Tamil Nadu government has selected veteran Tamil scholar and former Vice Chancellor of Manonmaniam University K P Aravaanan for ''Tiruvalluvar Award'' for the year 2007.

Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, announced that Mr Aravaanan would be conferred with the award at a function to be organised on the occasion of saint poet ''Tiruvalluvar day'' here on January, one, 2007, an official release here said.

The Scholar has written more than 60 books and had served for the development of Tamil language by travelling to more than 20 countries.

Recipient of Tamil Nadu government's award for Best Books, Mr Aravaanan is well versed in English, French and Malayalam and had taken part in a number of seminars and workshops, it said.
