AP Speaker promises to take up Wage Board issue with Centre
Hyderabad, Dec 14 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Assembly speaker K R Suresh Reddy today assured a delegation of the Andhra Pradesh Constituents of Confederation of Newspaper and News Agency Employees Organisations that he would use his good offices to impress upon the Central Government to immediately constitute Wage Board for journalists and non-journalists employees of the newspaper industry in the country.
According to a release, a delegation comprising K Srinivas Reddy, Secretary-General, Indian Journalists Union, K Amarnath, President, D Amar, General Secretary of Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists and the representatives of AP Photo Journalists Association, AP Newspaper Employees Federation, AP Electronic Media Journalists Association, PTI Employees Union and Journalists Union of Andhra Pradesh, submitted a Memorandum listing their demands in connection with the 'Demands Day' being observed by the newspaper employees all over the country.
The demands included, action against the newspaper managements, who have refused to implement the provisions of the Working Journalists and other newspaper employees (service conditions and other miscelaneous provisions) act, 1955 and fixation of wages for newspaper employees act, 1958.
The Speaker also decided to refer the issue of non-implementation of the awards of the successive wage boards for the jounalists and non-journalists employees, especially for the moffussil journalists by the newspaper managements in the State to the Estimates Committee of the Assembly for a thorough enquiry, the release added UNI BR KVV DKA KN2052
