Jabalpur, Dec 14 (UNI) The Centre of Indian Trade Unions today said six workers of the Defence Employees Federation were injured as the agitating employees were attacked by few anti-social elements near the Army base workshop here.

CITU's Madhya Pradesh unit General Secretary Badal Saroj in a statement condemned the attack and sought arrest of the guilty.

He, however, alleged that the assailants were being given shelter by local BJP MLA and Speaker Ishwardas Rohani.

Meanwhile, police said only one employee Surendra Singh was injured in a dispute between strike supporters and those going for duty. Tension prevailed in the area following the clash.

About 80 per cent of the employees of the Gun Carriage Factory, Vehicle Factory, Ordnance Factory and Iron Foundry here also joined the nationwide strike by Central Government employees protesting the economic and industrial policies of the UPA government.
