A gang involved in various crimes busted

Pune, Dec 14 (UNI) The city police have busted a gang involved in murder, dacoity, kidnapping and extortion here and five notorious criminal have been arrested in this connection.

Briefing reporters here today, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) crime Anil Kumbhare said that the gang was trying to loot a jewellery shop in Bopodi area on the Bombay- Pune Highway on Tuesday.

Acting on a tip off, the police laid a trap and arrested them before they could run away with the booty. One foreign made pistols, a revolver, six cartridges and two motorcycles were recovered from their possession, he said.

The five members were identified as Sham Ramchandra Dabhade, Sandeep Ramchandra Madhure, Sangram Kharchade, Sachin Bharat Bhosale and Devidas Kharde.

The accused had confessed of having committed a large number of dacoities in the past and many cases of loot, murder, kidnapping were registered against them, police said.
