15 injured in suburban train collision in Thane

Mumbai, Dec 14: Fifteen passengers, including four railway employees, sustained injuries when a suburban train from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus to Titwala collided with another stationary local train at Thane station.

Central Railway sources said that the injured with minor injuries were admitted to Thane and Kalyan hospitals.

The incident occurred at Thane Station at about 2355 hrs last night when an empty rake waiting for signal to car shed was hit from behind by the Titwala local.

The incident occurred at platform number two, following which several trains got delayed and police had to intervene to disperse the mob.

Presently, the services are running as per schedule, sources said.
